All Fired Up
By Sandy K

“So, how long should we stay here, Merry?”
“I don’t know, Pip. He might be back any minute.”
“He sure left in a hurry. I’ve ever seen anyone move that fast before. Did you see how red his face was?”
“Maybe we should have shown them to Sam instead of putting them into the stew pot ourselves.”
“Gimli said they were very tasty and perfectly safe to eat. And Sam said his supplies were starting to run low. We were just being helpful.”
“What if Gimli was wrong? They could be poisonous to elves.”
“If they were poisonous, the others would be more concerned. I think Strider’s tasted them before. He’s just sitting there, eating and laughing and passing out chunks of bread.”
“What did Gimli call them? Hallpeenos?”
“Which one do you think is angrier? Legolas or Sam?”
“I don’t know, Pip. I’m willing to wager Sam won’t let us within fifty feet of his stew pot again. And Legolas… we’d best stay here a while longer. Just in case.”
“But, Merry, it smells so good. And I’m hungry.”
“You’re always hungry, Pip.”
