My sophomore year in high school, I spent the spring semester at my aunt's house in another state, because our school district had a teacher's strike. She had a bountiful garden, and a huge stand of well-established asparagus. It was only in season for a few weeks, but while it was, we had it for nearly every meal. This was the way she made it.

And I agree: more Sam and Pippin stories are needed!
