This is my favorite holiday candy. They're very easy to make, but I only make them at Christmas since there is so much tedious work involved. The results are worth it, though.

MARTHA WASHINGTONS

7 oz. sweetened, flaked coconut
1 cup chopped pecans
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 stick butter or margarine
2 lb. powdered sugar
12 oz. chocolate chips
1/8 lb. (more or less) paraffin

Mix first five ingredients together in a large bowl. Using your hands works best. Roll into small balls. Chill 1 hour. Insert a toothpick into each candy. In a double boiler over low heat, melt chocolate chips and paraffin. Dip candy into chocolate mixture and place on waxed paper to set. Remove toothpicks and dab a bit of chocolate mixture over the holes. Makes approximately 100-125 candies.

I never liked wax lips. They were too scary. Those little wax bottles with about a third of an ounce of syrup inside however ... yum!

*makes list for grocery store*
