It comes in sticks?

Some recipes here need "a stick of butter" as an ingredient. Can someone please tell me how much a stick of butter weighs? (I couldn't find it on that "conversion site")

Part of the problem is that US recipes tend to be measured in volume, not weight, so there's a little variation. (and the conversion tables tend to round up or down, too...)

I just have to try out the recipes and see what needs changing (a bit).

And it is strange for me to see things measured in volume (like a cup of carrots I saw in a recipe). Basically we use volume (I don't now if this is the right word) for anything liquid and weight for anything solid (with some exceptions). But I'll get used to the US method too.
